TRNC marks 52nd anniversary of July 20 Peace Operation

 Lefkosa, July 21,2026: A national parade was held on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkoşa as part of the commemorations marking the 52nd anniversary of the July 20 Peace Operation.

The ceremony was attended by President Tufan Erhürman, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, senior TRNC and Turkish officials, military commanders, political leaders and visiting delegations from various countries.

Addressing the ceremony, President Erhürman reaffirmed that the Turkish Cypriot people’s determination to remain an equal partner on the island, calling for a just, lasting and sustainable settlement to the Cyprus issue while rejecting continued isolation and discrimination against the Turkish Cypriot people.

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, for his part, reiterated Ankara’s unwavering support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,stressing that Türkiye would continue to stand by the Turkish Cypriot people politically, economically and in the field of security. Yılmaz further stated that “the Century of Türkiye will also be the century of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.
