Islamabad, July 23, 2026: The Embassy of Cuba in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum, on Thursday inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “Fidel Por Siempre” (Fidel Forever) and a display of books to commemorate the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

The exhibition, held at the Cuban Embassy in Islamabad, brought together political leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, intellectuals and friends of Cuba to pay tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Among the distinguished guests was Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov. Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed also addressed the gathering, highlighting Fidel Castro’s historical stature and enduring legacy.

In his remarks, Senator Mushahid said Fidel Castro’s humanist philosophy continues to shape Cuba’s diplomacy and spirit of international solidarity. He recalled Cuba’s humanitarian assistance to Pakistan following the devastating 2005 earthquake through its medical brigades, as well as the education of Pakistani students in Cuban medical institutions, describing these initiatives as lasting symbols of the deep friendship between the two countries inspired by Fidel’s vision.

Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero said the commemoration of Fidel Castro’s centenary coincides with Cuba’s National Rebellion Day on July 26, marking the anniversary of the 1953 attacks led by Fidel Castro and a group of young revolutionaries on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks in eastern Cuba.

“The photographic and book exhibition is not simply a look at the past through images and texts, but the celebration of a living legacy, defined by courage, social justice and unwavering internationalism. It is an encounter with a century of dignity, sovereignty and solidarity,” Ambassador Cordero said.

President of the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum Ramzan Mughal, who played a leading role in organizing the exhibition, said the event reaffirms the commitment to preserving the shared history of Cuba and Pakistan while further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship between the two nations.
