Islamabad, July 30, 2026: Pakistan and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening academic cooperation, with a focus on faculty exchanges, joint research and expanding opportunities for higher education collaboration.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Germany’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel and representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Islamabad.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Faculty Exchange Programme and explored new avenues for enhancing collaboration between higher education institutions in Pakistan and Germany.

Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar reiterated the HEC’s commitment to broadening academic partnerships through faculty exchange initiatives, collaborative research projects and increased educational opportunities for Pakistani students.

Ambassador Ina Lepel welcomed the growing academic ties between the two countries and reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for the Faculty Exchange Programme, which will enable German faculty members to undertake short-term teaching assignments at Pakistani universities.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Germany to promoting academic excellence, research collaboration and stronger institutional linkages between universities in both countries.
