Islamabad, August 6, 2026: Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, who also serves as Chancellor of Air University, paid his first official visit to the university after assuming office, reaffirming his commitment to promoting quality higher education, research and innovation.
Dr. Akhtar was received by Vice Chancellor Air Marshal Abdul Moeed Khan (Retd.) and senior university officials, who briefed him on the institution’s academic achievements, strategic initiatives and future development plans.
During the visit, the HEC chairman toured the National Cyber Security Academy (NCSA), where he was informed about the academy’s academic programmes, research activities and contributions to strengthening Pakistan’s cyber security capabilities.
Interacting with the university’s leadership and faculty members, Dr. Akhtar shared his vision for advancing Pakistan’s higher education sector through improved academic quality, innovation, cutting-edge research and stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
He appreciated Air University’s contributions to research excellence, the development of skilled human capital and its role in supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and technological advancement.
The visit underscored the HEC’s commitment to strengthening higher education institutions and promoting an innovation-driven academic environment aligned with national development priorities.
