Dubai, November 20, 2024-The much-anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan, has encountered another delay in the announcement of its schedule, prolonging uncertainty surrounding the tournament.

According to Pakistani media reports, the delay stems from a standoff between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). While the PCB insists on hosting the entire event in Pakistan, the BCCI is pushing for a hybrid model, demanding that matches involving India take place at a neutral venue due to ongoing diplomatic tensions.

The impasse has made it highly unlikely for the schedule to be announced within the next 24 hours, sources claim.

Adding to the pressure, broadcasters of the tournament, who were promised the iconic Pakistan-India clash, have reportedly threatened legal action if the ICC fails to deliver on this commitment. The high-stakes rivalry is considered a major draw for the event, and its absence could lead to significant financial and reputational repercussions.

Sources suggest that progress on the schedule is contingent upon flexibility from all stakeholders. While mutual agreement is reportedly being encouraged, no breakthrough has been achieved yet.

The ICC faces the additional challenge of resolving the issue before BCCI Secretary Jay Shah assumes the role of ICC Chairman on December 1, 2024, which could further complicate negotiations.

As the situation unfolds, the delay has cast a shadow over the tournament, which is set to bring together eight of the world’s top cricket teams.
