Peshawar, November 29, 2024-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to register FIRs against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar over the alleged killing of party workers during a protest in Islamabad.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram accused the government of concealing facts and arresting those exposing the truth. He claimed the protest crackdown resulted in multiple casualties, alleging that at least 12 protesters were killed, and their bodies were not returned to families.

Akram further alleged that Islamabad’s Polyclinic Hospital was pressured to hide records of casualties and accused authorities of detaining many missing PTI workers. He described the detained protesters as peaceful and criticised the Punjab government for targeting PTI officials’ residences.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur called for the expedited completion of lists of deceased, missing, and arrested PTI workers. He pledged compensation of Rs10 million for each victim’s family and announced legal proceedings against law enforcement for alleged targeting of protesters.

“Our workers are our assets, and we will stand by them in this critical time,” Gandapur stated, adding that legal teams are preparing formalities to lodge FIRs against the authorities involved in the crackdown.

The PTI also condemned the resolution passed in the Balochistan Assembly seeking a ban on the party and suggested retaliatory resolutions against PML-N and PPP in the KP Assembly.

Despite the suspension of the sit-in, PTI vowed to continue its efforts for Khan’s release and to hold the government accountable for alleged excesses during the protest.
