Beijing, December 3, 2024- The BRICS nations are committed to fostering cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries without engaging in bloc confrontations or targeting any third party, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated during a daily press briefing on Tuesday.

Highlighting BRICS as a key platform for promoting shared development and global prosperity, Lin emphasized that the alliance’s focus remains on collaborative efforts rather than geopolitical rivalries.

The spokesperson reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening practical cooperation in various fields with BRICS partners, aiming to contribute to sustainable and stable growth of the global economy.

This statement comes in the wake of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks warning of a 100% tariff imposition if BRICS nations proceed with their plans to create a currency alternative to the U.S. dollar.

Lin reiterated that BRICS’ objectives align with promoting inclusivity and addressing shared challenges in the global economic framework.
