Dubai, January 28, 2025: Geoff Allardice has announced his resignation as Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a successful four-year tenure, citing a desire to “pursue new challenges.”

Allardice, who initially took over as interim CEO in March 2021, was formally appointed to the role in November of the same year. He joined the ICC in 2012 as General Manager of Cricket, bringing extensive experience from his previous position at Cricket Australia.

Reflecting on his time at the ICC, Allardice said, “Serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the ICC has been an incredible privilege. I am immensely proud of the strides we have made, from expanding cricket’s global reach to establishing a solid commercial foundation for our members. After 13 years at the ICC, I feel this is the right moment for me to step aside and embrace new challenges. I remain confident that cricket is on an exciting trajectory, and I wish the ICC and the global cricket community continued success in the years to come.”

His resignation comes shortly after Jay Shah, former Secretary of the BCCI, assumed the position of ICC Chair on December 1, succeeding Greg Barclay. Shah commended Allardice’s contributions, stating, “On behalf of the ICC Board, I extend our deepest gratitude to Geoff for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment. His efforts have been instrumental in the growth and success of cricket worldwide. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

The ICC has confirmed that its board will soon begin the process of selecting Allardice’s successor, signaling a new phase of leadership for the global governing body of cricket.
