Tunis, Tunisia, July 23, 2025: Tunisian President Kais Saied confronted Donald Trump’s senior Africa adviser, Massad Boulos, with harrowing images of starving children in Gaza during a meeting on Tuesday, urging the international community to act against what he described as crimes against humanity.

In official footage released late Tuesday, Saied was seen showing Boulos, who is also the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany, a photograph of “a child crying, eating sand in occupied Palestine.”

“I believe you know these images well,” Saied told the envoy. “It is time for all of humanity to wake up and put an end to these crimes against the Palestinian people.” Boulos remained mostly silent during the exchange, occasionally nodding as Saied displayed several more images highlighting Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

The Tunisian leader condemned the conditions in the besieged territory, declaring: “It is absolutely unacceptable. It is a crime against all of humanity.”

The exchange comes as global condemnation intensifies over the worsening humanitarian disaster in Gaza, where over two million people have endured 21 months of conflict. On Wednesday, more than 100 aid organizations warned that “mass starvation” is now spreading throughout the enclave, with even humanitarian workers suffering severe shortages.

According to Gaza’s largest hospital, 21 children have died from starvation and malnutrition in the past three days alone.

Israel, under growing scrutiny, insists it is allowing aid into Gaza and has accused Hamas of weaponizing civilian suffering — alleging that militants steal food supplies, sell them at inflated prices, or open fire on civilians waiting for aid.

Following his visit to Tunisia, Boulos departed for Tripoli, Libya, on Wednesday, according to Tunisian media reports.
