Rawalpindi, December 14, 2025: Security forces have killed 13 terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations were conducted on December 12 and 13 against militants belonging to Fitna Al Khwarij, a term used by the state for terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which it described as an Indian proxy group.

According to the ISPR, the first operation was carried out in Mohmand district on the basis of intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij’s location, and after an intense fire exchange, seven khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.

The second intelligence-based operation took place in Bannu district, where security forces neutralised six more terrorists.

The ISPR said sanitisation operations were underway in both areas to eliminate any remaining militants. It added that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp increase in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022 and vowed to intensify attacks on security forces, police and other law enforcement personnel.

Last month, security forces had killed 22 terrorists during a major operation in Bannu district, underscoring the ongoing efforts to curb militancy in the region.
