Bucharest, March 20, 2026: Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu has expressed deep concern over reports of sectarian attacks targeting Christian communities in Syria.
In a statement, Minister Țoiu emphasized the need for Syrian authorities to conduct thorough investigations, hold perpetrators accountable, and take measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.
She underscored that the security and full rights of all religious and ethnic communities in Syria must be effectively guaranteed, noting that the country’s long-term stability and prosperity depend on it.
“The new path of Syria is highly dependent on the authorities’ capacity to ensure a safe place for all its citizens,” she said, highlighting the importance of protecting vulnerable communities to foster peace and development in the region.
