Beijing May 6,2026: The annual “Pakistan media and think tank professionals China tour” recently has become a prominent event to foster mutual understanding and friendship. This year’s tour, from April 18 to 28, marked the 75th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Organized by the State Council Information Office and executed by the China International Communications Group, the tour included visits to the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Hubei province and Beijing.

During their stay, the delegates gained a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of China, experiencing firsthand the nation’s multifaceted development.

The visit reinforced their pride in the strong friendship between the two countries, which is often described as that of “Iron Brothers”.

In Xinjiang’s Kashgar, the delegation observed the region’s socioeconomic progress, cultural heritage preservation and ecological conservation efforts. They explored the ancient city, where the intermingling of diverse ethnic cultures has created a rich tapestry of historical treasures, and an urban renewal project launched in 2009 that has notably improved living conditions for local residents.

Rashida Shoukat, a journalist from Abb Takk News Channel, expressed her admiration for the ecological achievements, suggesting that Pakistan could benefit from adopting similar initiatives. Noor Ullah, a senior manager at Jang Media Group, noted the stark contrast between his observations and some Western media portrayals of Xinjiang. He said that the vibrant cultural scene and well-maintained mosques in Kashgar contradict negative stereotypes, highlighting the region’s appeal to global tourists.

In Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, the delegation visited the Yangluo Port, experiencing the intelligent and modern port hub and learning about the practical achievements of the province in building an inland open highland.

The delegation also visited Wuhan’s Qingfa Hesheng Seed Co Ltd which has been cooperating with Pakistan on advanced agricultural technology for hybrid rice. A series of actual data vividly demonstrated the real changes brought about by Chinese seeds to the agricultural development of Pakistan.

The Wuhan visit concluded with a ride on the city’s scenic suspended monorail, or “sky rail”, showcasing China’s technological advancements.

In Beijing, the group visited the Great Wall, gaining insights into China’s historical preservation efforts. At Zhongguancun Software Park, they explored developments in artificial intelligence and software services. The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition provided a glimpse into the latest developments in China’s automotive industry.

Members of a delegation from Pakistan also visited the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition at the China International Exhibition Center Shunyi Hall.

They also visited the Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute in Beijing to learn about innovations in green and low-carbon technologies. Mir Salam Khan Jogezai, a senior correspondent with PTV News, expressed admiration for China’s clean energy technologies and their contribution to global environmental protection.

Mir Salam Khan Jogezai expressed his deep connection to China, likening it to a second home and said he will share more stories of China with his compatriots.

As the visit concluded, the Pakistani delegates committed to sharing their experiences back home, aiming to enhance understanding and appreciation of China among their fellow citizens. This initiative, now in its fourth successful year, continues to be a vital platform for promoting cultural exchange and deepening the bonds between China and Pakistan.
