Islamabad, June 23, 2026: Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Takhtaev, held a productive and substantive meeting with Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and advance key regional connectivity initiatives.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed progress in the growing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and explored opportunities to expand collaboration across a range of sectors, including trade, transportation, aviation connectivity, industrial development, and education.
A major focus of the discussion was the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project, which is expected to enhance regional connectivity, facilitate trade, and create new economic opportunities across Central and South Asia.
Ambassador Takhtaev noted that both countries share a common understanding that the potential of Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations extends far beyond the achievements attained so far. He emphasized that significant opportunities remain for launching new joint projects, attracting investment, and deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
“The future of Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations is promising, with both countries committed to pursuing new initiatives and strengthening people-to-people and economic ties for the prosperity of our nations,” he said.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Islamabad and Tashkent to further elevate bilateral relations and work closely on regional development and connectivity projects.
Officials expressed confidence that Uzbekistan and Pakistan are steadily moving toward a new level of strategic partnership, underpinned by stronger economic engagement, enhanced connectivity, and closer cooperation on regional priorities.
