Islamabad, February 19, 2025: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed references in connection with the New Murree Project Golf City and Rakh Takht Pari land scam, naming prominent property tycoon Malik Riaz, who is absconder of courts in Pakistan.
According to NAB sources, a reference concerning the New Murree Project Golf City has been submitted to the accountability court against Malik Riaz, Mehboob Shaukat, Muhammad Irfan Ilahi, and 28 other individuals.
In a separate reference related to Rakh Takht Pari land in Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Malik Riaz, and Ahmed Ali Riaz, along with 18 others, have been named as accused.
The New Murree Project Golf City reference accuses the suspects of illegally occupying 4,500 kanals of government land and incorporating it into a private housing scheme. Evidence submitted in the case suggests that Malik Riaz, in alleged collusion with officials from the Revenue and Forest Departments, unlawfully integrated government and communal land into the Bahria Town housing project – Murree Golf City.
Meanwhile, in the Rakh Takht Pari case, it is alleged that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, during his tenure in 2006, illegally redefined land boundaries to facilitate the acquisition of state land. These references mark a significant development in the anti-corruption drive, as NAB continues its crackdown on alleged land encroachments and the misuse of public resources.
