London, April 6, 2025: Hundreds of protesters took to the streets across major cities in Europe and the United States on Saturday, voicing their disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk amid rising global discontent.

The demonstrations followed a turbulent week in global financial markets after President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on international imports, sparking outrage over the economic fallout and political direction of his administration. Protesters expressed growing frustration not only with Trump’s policies but also with Musk’s increasing influence in government affairs.

In Europe, rallies were held in London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Lisbon. In Paris, approximately 200 demonstrators—many of them American expatriates—gathered at Place de la République holding banners reading “Resist Tyrant,” “Rule of Law,” and “Feminists for Freedom, Not Fascism.” One emotional highlight came when a protester performed Bob Dylan’s Masters of War, drawing a somber silence from the crowd.

In Frankfurt, a protest organized by Democrats Abroad under the slogan “Hands Off!” drew dozens of American expats. Placards read “Restore Democracy,” “Hands off our personal data,” and “The world is tired of your bullshit Donald, be gone!”

In Berlin, demonstrators rallied outside a Tesla showroom, with signs targeting Musk directly, including “Shut up Elon, no one voted for you.” One humorous protest featured a dog carrying a placard that read “Dogs against DOGE,” referencing Musk’s controversial role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new federal initiative aimed at reducing bureaucratic waste.

London’s Trafalgar Square saw a larger gathering of several hundred protesters. Banners proclaimed “Proud American Ashamed,” “WTAF America?” and chants rang out calling on the U.S. to back off from Canada, Greenland, and Ukraine. Organizers accused the Trump administration of undermining diplomatic norms and expanding U.S. global overreach.

Similar demonstrations were reported in Lisbon and other European capitals, signaling a coordinated wave of international resistance to what many see as an increasingly authoritarian and erratic U.S. presidency.

Meanwhile, protests erupted across the United States, including major cities such as Washington, DC, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Outside the White House, protesters chanted “Impeach Trump” and “No More Tariffs, No More Lies.” In Manhattan, marchers demanded an end to Trump’s presidency, carrying signs condemning both Trump and Musk.

Criticism of Musk has intensified following his appointment to lead DOGE, with detractors questioning the lack of oversight and transparency in the role he plays in shaping federal policy. His polarizing social media presence and reported influence over key White House decisions have further fueled concerns.

These global demonstrations reflect a growing international movement calling for accountability, transparency, and a shift away from what many see as corporate-led governance and destabilizing political rhetoric.
