Islamabad, May 25, 2025: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) convened its Executive Committee and Extraordinary General Body Meeting simultaneously at its Capital Office (Chair), Head Office in Karachi, and Regional Offices in Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI, President ECO-CCI, and Vice President of CACCI, and was attended by members of the Executive Committee, General Body, and prominent businessmen and industrialists from across the country.
During the session, the house unanimously approved the audited financial accounts of FPCCI for the year 2024 and expressed strong appreciation for the exceptional performance of President Atif Ikram Sheikh at both national and international levels. His leadership was particularly lauded for facilitating the business community, resolving critical trade and industry issues, and advancing Pakistan’s economic diplomacy.
The participants acknowledged President Sheikh’s successful international engagements over the past months, including leading FPCCI delegations to the UK, Bangladesh, Turkiye, Singapore, Belarus, and Saudi Arabia, and actively representing Pakistan at major multilateral platforms such as CACCI, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit.
In a historic first, the FPCCI organized the Sustainable Tourism Forum in collaboration with the OIC, promoting Pakistan’s tourism potential and enhancing its global image. The Federation also hosted a high-profile 50-member ASEAN delegation, underscoring Pakistan’s growing role in regional economic cooperation.
The house further lauded the “Launch Pad” initiative introduced under President Sheikh’s leadership to support startups and innovative projects emerging from universities across Pakistan.
President Atif Ikram Sheikh briefed the house on recent engagements with the Prime Minister of Pakistan and key institutions concerning the upcoming federal budget, with discussions focused on taxation, tariffs, and broader economic reforms.
A major legislative milestone under his tenure—the approval of the Trade Organizations Amendment Bill, 2025—was also praised. The amendment extends the tenure of trade body office bearers to two years, ensuring policy continuity and effective achievement of long-term goals.
In a unanimous show of confidence, the house passed a resolution endorsing President FPCCI’s leadership and extended their full support for the continuation of his agenda to enhance the organization’s performance. The resolution also approved the extension of the current office bearers’ tenure into 2026, aligning FPCCI’s election cycle with that of other trade bodies. This alignment is expected to facilitate seamless policy advocacy, improved trade diplomacy, and uninterrupted representation of the business community at national and international forums.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from FPCCI leadership and members to further strengthen Pakistan’s private sector and trade linkages globally under the continued leadership of Atif Ikram Sheikh.
