Islamabad, June 14, 2025: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Friday strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on Iran, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with its neighbor and supporting Tehran’s right to self-defense amid escalating regional tensions.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar revealed that during a recent United Nations Security Council session, Iranian representatives publicly thanked Pakistan for its principled stance in condemning the Israeli aggression. “Pakistan stands firmly with its Iranian brothers and sisters in this difficult hour,” he said. “We support Iran’s sovereign right to defend itself.”
Tarar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace but emphasized that it cannot come at the cost of justice or the security of sovereign nations.
The minister also underscored Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause, stating, “We have never forgotten — and will never forget — the helpless Muslims of Palestine. Pakistan has raised its voice at every international platform against the brutalities committed in Gaza.”
He added that the people of Pakistan stand in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian struggle and consider it a matter of conscience and national principle.
Turning to domestic politics, Minister Tarar criticized certain overseas individuals he referred to as “unwise friends,” accusing them of maligning the country rather than merely opposing the government. “Why has no action been taken against those who openly spoke in favor of Israel?” he questioned.
Commenting on recent disruptions during the National Assembly’s budget session, Tarar said the opposition’s conduct had crossed all bounds of decency. “The opposition leader shouted so loudly that the audio system malfunctioned. He even brought tape to stick documents on his desk for making noise — an embarrassment in a parliamentary setting.”
He concluded by stating that for the first time, the national budget targets entrenched mafias and vested interests, marking a turning point in Pakistan’s economic policy.
