Islamabad, June 19, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed relevant authorities to finalize Pakistan’s new industrial policy at the earliest, emphasizing its critical role in enhancing production and providing sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by the country’s industrial sector.

Chairing a high-level meeting on promotion of the industrial sector, the prime minister underscored the need for the policy to be developed in consultation with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring it reflects the diverse needs of domestic industries.

“The industrial sector is the backbone of our national exports. Its development is essential for achieving export-led economic growth,” the premier stated, adding that industrial revival remains a cornerstone of the government’s economic vision.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to transforming local industries, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of equipping them with a skilled workforce and modern technology aligned with international standards.

“Investment will be promoted through tariff rationalization, and we aim to overcome past setbacks caused by uncertain industrial policies,” he said. “With a coherent and effective strategy, we will elevate industrial development to new heights.”

He further noted that the government’s recent economic policies have been framed with a clear focus on industrial growth and manufacturing revival.

During the meeting, officials presented a range of recommendations for developing national industries, assuring the prime minister that the manufacturing sector would be revived through a well-crafted and actionable industrial policy.

The session was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, and other senior government officials.

The policy, once finalized, is expected to serve as a roadmap for industrial modernization, enhanced exports, and increased private sector investment in Pakistan.
