Islamabad, October 7, 2024 – In preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the federal government has declared a three-day public holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

An official notification issued on Monday states that all educational institutions and government offices in the twin cities will be closed from October 14 to 16. This decision, endorsed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is intended to facilitate the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting, which will take place on October 15 and 16 in Islamabad.

Leaders from across the Eurasian region, including the prime ministers of Russia and China, are anticipated to attend this important two-day event.
