Islamabad, August 26, 2025: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday announced the establishment of Pakistan’s largest nursery in Islamabad, a 50-acre project expected to host over one million plants aimed at curbing smog and strengthening the capital’s green landscape.
During a visit to the CDA Model Nursery on Park Road, the minister reviewed development work, inspected different sections of the project, and visited a newly built rainwater harvesting pond.
“An international-standard, state-of-the-art model nursery is being developed in Islamabad,” Naqvi said. “It will meet the horticultural needs of residents while playing a vital role in improving the city’s environment.”
The nursery will also house a flower shop and a training institute. Naqvi directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) staff to undergo professional training for plant care and maintenance.
The minister praised Azerbaijani horticulture experts assisting in the project, commending their contribution to Islamabad’s green initiative. Officials informed him that 25,000 free plants had already been distributed during this year’s monsoon plantation drive. They also highlighted the installation of modern, controlled-ventilation greenhouses to provide ideal conditions for plant growth.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the minister on project progress. Senior CDA officials, along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, were also present during the inspection.
