Islamabad, September 6, 2025: The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the “Mercy for all Worlds” and the “Seal of Prophets,” is being celebrated across Pakistan today with deep religious zeal and reverence.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr in mosques and homes for the country’s peace, prosperity, and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Streets, markets, mosques, and public squares are illuminated nationwide, with green flags fluttering and the atmosphere resonating with recitations of Durood-o-Salam.
This year, in line with resolutions unanimously passed by both houses of Parliament, the government has made special arrangements to mark 1447 Hijri as the 1500th anniversary of the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. The main event is the International Seerat Conference in Islamabad, expected to be attended by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is also hosting a special Mehfil-e-Naat tonight in the capital.
Rallies and processions organized by religious organizations, madrassah students, and civil society groups are being held in various cities, while Mehfil-e-Milad gatherings are echoing with expressions of love for the Prophet ﷺ.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, congratulated the nation and the Muslim Ummah, saying the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is a guiding light for resolving modern-day challenges of extremism, injustice, social disorder, and digital disruptions.
He emphasized that justice, compassion, equality, and respect for humanity form the foundation of a virtuous society, and the solutions to today’s crises lie in the Prophet’s teachings. The President added that the completion of 1500 years of the Prophet’s blessed birth reminds the nation to embed principles of mercy, peace, and justice in social, political, and cultural systems.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the nation to renew its pledge to build Pakistan in light of the golden teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. He said the Prophet’s life is a “complete and comprehensive model” for all aspects of human existence.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi remarked that 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal was the day when “darkness was defeated, and humanity found the true meaning of justice and mercy.”
In Karachi, a Mehfil-e-Milad was hosted at the Governor House. Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori said the Prophet ﷺ’s life offers perfect guidance for every field of life, adding that Muslims must adhere more closely to his Sunnah.
Strict security arrangements have been made across Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar to ensure peaceful processions. In Karachi alone, over 4,480 police personnel have been deployed. Similar measures have been taken in Lahore, where thousands of security officials are on duty.
Nationwide, Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ processions are being taken out with arrangements of free food and refreshments (langar) by devotees for participants.
