Islamabad, December 29, 2025: Pakistan on Monday expressed deep concern over incidents of vandalism during Christmas and continued violence against Muslims in India, calling on the international community to take note of what it described as serious human rights violations.
Responding to media queries, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tahir Andrabi, said the persecution of minorities in India remained a matter of grave concern. He condemned recent incidents of vandalism targeting Christian communities during Christmas, as well as what he termed state-sponsored campaigns against Muslims.
The spokesperson highlighted actions including the demolition of Muslim homes and repeated incidents of mob lynching, citing the case of Muhammad Akhlaq as a notable example where, he alleged, state institutions worked to shield perpetrators from accountability. He said such incidents had contributed to a growing sense of fear and alienation among India’s Muslim population.
“The list of such victims is sadly long,” the spokesperson said, adding that these developments warranted serious attention at the international level.
Pakistan urged the international community to take appropriate steps to help protect the fundamental rights of vulnerable minority communities in India and to ensure accountability for those responsible for acts of violence and discrimination.
