Islamabad, January 22, 2026: The Pakistan–Denmark Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), chaired by Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, MNA, held its first briefing session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday. The session was attended by members including Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Mr. Sanjay Perwani, Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, Ms. Saba Talpur, and Ms. Nikhat Shakeel Khan.
During the session, Convener Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary engagement as a complementary mechanism to government-to-government relations. He emphasized the role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in fostering constructive dialogue, enhancing people-to-people contacts, and addressing mutual perceptions between the two nations.
The Ambassador provided a comprehensive overview of Pakistan–Denmark bilateral relations, including current areas of cooperation and the broader diplomatic framework. Members discussed strategies to further strengthen bilateral ties, emphasizing trade and investment promotion, particularly through business-to-business matchmaking initiatives.
The discussions also focused on expanding collaboration in education, skills development, innovation, and cultural exchanges, as well as exploring joint initiatives to commemorate shared milestones. Participants highlighted the importance of addressing diaspora welfare, labor mobility, and community perceptions to reinforce mutual understanding.
The session concluded with a consensus that Pakistan–Denmark relations are on a positive trajectory, and that sustained parliamentary engagement can play a pivotal role in deepening bilateral understanding, broadening sectoral cooperation, and advancing long-term mutual objectives.
