Islamabad, January 29, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path forward, during a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on X, the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation, with Dar expressing concern over recent developments. He emphasized that continued engagement through diplomatic channels was essential to ease tensions and prevent further escalation.
The Foreign Office said both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact as the situation continues to unfold.
This marked the second interaction between the two ministers in recent days. Araghchi had earlier spoken with Dar on Saturday while the Pakistani foreign minister was on an official visit to Dubai. During that conversation, the Iranian foreign minister thanked Pakistan for what he described as its strong support at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva.
He specifically acknowledged Pakistan’s role in calling for a vote and opposing a resolution related to Iran. Last week, the UNHRC approved a resolution extending the mandate of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran for another two years. Pakistan was among seven countries, including China and India, that voted against the resolution.
The Foreign Office added that the two ministers also exchanged views on broader regional and global issues, with Araghchi conveying his deep appreciation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government of Pakistan, and the people of Pakistan.
