Islamabad, February 11, 2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) organized a high-impact awareness session titled “Oral Cancer Awareness, Skin and Health Care during Ramadan” at the Chamber House. The event was attended by State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, as Chief Guest, along with former ICCI Presidents, executive committee members, medical experts, and members of the business community.

In her address, Ms. Wajiha Qamar emphasized the critical importance of early detection, timely screening, and public education to combat fatal diseases like oral cancer, which continue to claim thousands of lives annually. She appreciated ICCI’s proactive role in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, highlighting that public-private collaboration is vital to promote community well-being. The State Minister also stressed taking extra care of underprivileged segments of society during the holy month of Ramadan.

The session featured expert guidance from Professor Dr. Johariya Azhar, Professor Dr. Abul Hasan, Dr. Sharif Uz Zaman Khan, and Dr. Karen Shehryar, covering prevention strategies, early detection, symptoms, and management of oral cancer, along with tips on skin and general health care during fasting.

ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, in his welcome address, reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to not only fostering a conducive business environment but also advancing health awareness as a core CSR priority. He highlighted ICCI’s past initiatives, including Pink Ribbon campaigns, anti-drug drives, and youth sports programs, underscoring that a healthy society forms the backbone of a strong economy.

On the occasion, ICCI announced the establishment of an Online Help Desk to assist the public with oral cancer-related queries, providing preliminary consultations and guidance to connect with relevant healthcare institutions. Professor Dr. Johariya Azhar was appointed as the focal person for this initiative.

Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub and former Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui also shared insights on preventive care, emphasizing that early diagnosis reduces both the human and economic burden on families.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, alongside a shared commitment to continue collaborative efforts in promoting health awareness and preventive care across the community.

Other notable attendees included former President Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi, Mian Shaukat Masood, Executive Members Zulqurnain Abbasi and Ishaq Sial, and senior member Israr Mashwani.
