Islamabad, March 1, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said the Government and people of Pakistan stand with the people of Iran in their hour of grief and sorrow, extending heartfelt condolences on the “martyrdom” of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a statement, the prime minister expressed deep concern over what he described as a violation of the norms of international law, noting that it is an established convention that Heads of State and Government should not be targeted.
Prime Minister Shehbaz prayed for the departed soul and said, “May Allah Almighty grant patience and strength to the Iranian people to bear this irreparable loss.”
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran during the difficult period and conveyed sympathies to the Iranian leadership and nation.
