Islamabad, April 8, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in the Middle East between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, terming it a positive step towards regional peace and stability.
In an official statement, the Speaker expressed appreciation for the willingness shown by both sides to engage in dialogue, emphasising that diplomacy remains the only viable path to achieving sustainable peace.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role, Ayaz Sadiq said the country takes pride in its constructive contribution to facilitating the breakthrough. He commended the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for their commitment and efforts in advancing peace.
The Speaker also lauded the professionalism and dedication of Pakistan’s diplomatic corps, acknowledging their role in promoting regional and global stability through sustained engagement.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent stance, he noted that Islamabad has advocated dialogue and peaceful resolution since the outset of the conflict. He stressed that prolonged instability adversely affects the broader Muslim world and urged greater unity among Muslim countries to end conflict and promote harmony.
Expressing optimism, Ayaz Sadiq voiced hope that continued cooperation among all stakeholders and support from the international community would pave the way for lasting peace. He also expressed confidence in the success of the upcoming “Islamabad Talks,” aimed at achieving a comprehensive resolution to the crisis.
