Islamabad, April 10, 2026: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has lauded Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran, describing it as a reflection of the country’s growing stature as a responsible and credible mediator on the global stage.
Welcoming visiting delegates and stakeholders, he expressed optimism that ongoing diplomatic engagements would lead to a permanent ceasefire and contribute to broader peace and stability in the region.
He noted that Islamabad, through sincere and timely efforts, helped create a conducive diplomatic environment that paved the way for de-escalation and dialogue between the two sides. According to him, Pakistan is poised to evolve from a facilitator of a temporary ceasefire into an enabler of a durable and lasting agreement.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood emphasized that this achievement was made possible through calibrated diplomacy and an effective response to the evolving geopolitical situation. He highlighted that the civilian leadership engaged with global capitals to build consensus for de-escalation, while the military leadership maintained effective channels with key stakeholders, particularly in Washington, ensuring a cohesive national effort.
Underscoring the economic significance of peace, he said the business community fully supports initiatives aimed at reducing tensions, as regional stability remains essential for sustainable economic growth and investor confidence.
