London, June 24, 2026: England men’s national field hockey team defeated Pakistan men’s national field hockey team 2-1 in the ongoing FIH Pro League 2026 at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Wednesday, condemning Pakistan to their 14th consecutive defeat in the competition.
The opening quarter ended without a goal despite sustained pressure from England. Both teams earned penalty corners during the period—four for England and two for Pakistan—but neither side managed to capitalize on their opportunities.
Pakistan broke the deadlock in the second quarter when Rana Waheed Ashraf found the back of the net in the 27th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Despite being awarded four additional penalty corners in the quarter, England were unable to respond before halftime.
The hosts fought back after the break, with Phil Roper scoring in the 40th minute to level the match at 1-1. England continued to dominate possession and earned seven penalty corners during the third quarter, but failed to convert any of them into goals.
England eventually secured the winner in the final quarter when Samuel Hooper struck in the 46th minute to put his side ahead for the first time in the contest.
The home side finished the match with 18 penalty corners, compared to Pakistan’s three, underlining England’s attacking dominance throughout the game.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan goalkeeper Ali Raza delivered a standout performance, making a series of crucial saves to keep his side in contention and prevent a heavier scoreline.
The loss leaves Pakistan at the bottom of the Pro League standings, having suffered 14 consecutive defeats. The Green Shirts have scored 21 goals in the tournament and currently hold a goal difference of minus 44.
Pakistan will now turn their attention to a highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India men’s national field hockey team, scheduled to take place at the same venue on Friday.
