Quetta, July 1, 2025: At least one person was killed and eight others injured on Tuesday in a brazen assault on the Tehsil Office in Mastung district, Balochistan.

Police officials said unidentified gunmen stormed the government premises in Mastung city, setting three government vehicles ablaze and targeting three nearby banks. The deceased was identified as a passerby who was caught in the crossfire. The injured were rushed to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Hospital and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with heavy gunfire and multiple explosions sending shockwaves across the city. Commercial activity came to a standstill as shops and markets shut down amid widespread panic. Security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

This latest incident comes just days after the Pakistan Army carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Duki district on June 28. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation targeted militants linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al Hindustan. Two terrorists were killed, and two others apprehended during the exchange of fire.

The security situation in Balochistan remains volatile as authorities continue counterterrorism efforts across the province.
