Kasur, August 31, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif continued her on-ground inspections for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday, visiting flood-hit Kasur to oversee relief efforts and interact with displaced families.
At the relief camp set up in DPS Kasur, Maryam Nawaz met women taking shelter there, listened to their concerns, and assured them of full government support. She also toured a temporary hospital, inquiring about the health of patients and consoling them.
A rescued woman at the camp thanked the chief minister, saying her family had been swiftly evacuated after she contacted the rescue team. “Thanks to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we were saved and brought here,” she said.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz spent time with children, joined them in classrooms, and distributed small prizes. Smiling and cheerful, she encouraged them to write their names on the whiteboard and reassured families that relief operations would continue until normalcy was restored.
Briefing the chief minister, officials said floods had impacted 29 villages of Kasur, forcing the evacuation of 18,300 people and the relocation of 36,129 cattle to safer areas. Displaced residents from Dhoop Sari, Muboke, Olla K, Nagar Aiman Pura, Mai Wala, Fatti Wala and other villages have been shifted to the Kasur relief camp using boats and vehicles.
Currently, 60 families comprising 312 individuals are living in the camp, where food, healthcare and recreational facilities have been arranged. Educational activities for children are also continuing alongside play areas in open fields. Three doctors and medical staff are on duty round the clock, with 170 patients treated so far.
Maryam Nawaz directed officials to ensure uninterrupted relief services and emphasized that no family should be left unattended as floodwaters continue to pose a threat across Punjab.
