Islamabad, February 13, 2026: The Acting Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syedal Khan Nasar, met with an international delegation participating in the Sixth International Workshop on Leadership and Stability at the Senate House.
During the meeting, the Acting Chairman briefed the delegation on the constitutional role of the Senate, parliamentary procedures, the legislative process, and the Upper House’s contribution to democratic stability in Pakistan. He highlighted the Senate’s pivotal role as a symbol of the Federation, ensuring equal representation of all provinces while strengthening the democratic framework through legislation, oversight, and policy guidance.
The delegation included representatives from multiple countries, comprising members of business and academic communities, think tank experts, government and military officials, and media professionals. Welcoming the participants, the Acting Chairman emphasized the importance of global dialogue on leadership and stability, noting that contemporary challenges require cooperation, shared wisdom, and collective action.
He stressed that international workshops and policy dialogues play a significant role in projecting Pakistan’s positive image abroad. Observing the parliamentary system, democratic processes, and institutional structures firsthand reinforces Pakistan’s constructive and responsible democratic credentials at the global level.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Nasar noted that dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive engagement at regional and global levels are essential. He added that such intellectual and policy-oriented engagements foster trust-building, strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties, and contribute to devising effective strategies to address shared global challenges.
He further highlighted the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy, stating that sustainable solutions to global issues—ranging from economy and climate to security—require cooperation, dialogue, and collective insight.
Additional Secretary Senate, Rabia Anwar, provided a detailed briefing to the delegation on Senate functions and powers, the legislative process, the role of Standing Committees, election of Senators, and the administrative structure of the Senate Secretariat. She also addressed participants’ questions comprehensively.
The delegation was later taken on a guided tour of the Senate Museum, learning about Pakistan’s parliamentary history, key legislative milestones, and achievements. Participants also visited the Senate Hall and observed live proceedings, gaining firsthand insight into parliamentary traditions and procedures.
Concluding the meeting, Acting Chairman Nasar welcomed the delegation’s visit, expressing hope that it would strengthen Pakistan’s international image and open new avenues for future cooperation. Delegation members appreciated the comprehensive briefing and thanked the Senate Secretariat for its guidance and hospitality.
