Islamabad, April 30,2026: Dr. Tariq Saleem, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Punjab, along with Chaudhry Ansar Mahmood, inaugurated a major membership camp in Gujrat as part of the party’s nationwide “Badl Do Nizam” (Change the System) campaign.

The membership drive is currently underway across districts of Punjab, where party workers are reaching out to citizens in markets, streets and neighbourhoods, encouraging them to join Jamaat-e-Islami. Membership camps have been established at multiple locations to facilitate public participation.

Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Khalid Mahmood Saqib, Raja Naeem Khawar and other party officials.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tariq Saleem said rising inflation, corruption, unemployment and continuous increases in petroleum, gas and electricity prices had made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens.

He said meaningful change in the system had become inevitable under the prevailing circumstances and urged youth, women and senior citizens to become members of Jamaat-e-Islami and participate in what he described as a peaceful, democratic and ideological movement.

“This campaign is not merely about membership but about establishing a system based on justice, public relief and equal access to basic facilities,” he said.

Dr. Tariq Saleem also welcomed the announcement by Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman regarding nationwide protests on May 1 against recent increases in petroleum prices and electricity costs.

Criticising the government’s economic policies, he claimed that consumers were paying up to Rs107 per litre in taxes on petrol, while electricity bills included multiple surcharges such as GST, Neelum-Jhelum surcharge, fuel adjustment charges and capacity payments to independent power producers (IPPs).

“The common man is being financially squeezed from all sides,” he said.

He also criticised major political parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party, alleging that despite remaining in power for years, they had failed to deliver meaningful improvements in governance and public welfare.

Dr. Tariq Saleem concluded by urging people to unite for “real change” and support Jamaat-e-Islami’s mission for a transparent and people-centric system in the country.
