Tehran, December 3, 2024- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday, during an official visit to Iran. The two leaders committed to strengthening collaboration across “all spheres” as part of broader bilateral relations.

Dar is in Iran to participate in the 28th Council of Ministers meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO).

Upon his arrival in Mashhad on Monday night, Dar was welcomed by Razavi Khorasan Vice Governor General Mohammad Ali Nabipoor and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu.

During a meeting with FM Araghchi on the sidelines of the ECO gathering, the ministers discussed areas of shared interest and reviewed recent regional and global developments. A statement from the foreign ministry highlighted their agreement to enhance cooperation across various sectors, reflecting the growing importance of bilateral ties.

As part of the ECO Ministerial Meeting, Dar is set to sign the Charter for ECO Clean Energy Centre, marking a significant step in promoting sustainable energy initiatives in the region.

In his address at the summit, Dar will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO Charter and advocate for increased regional connectivity through initiatives such as the development of road and rail networks, visa liberalization, and streamlined border procedures.

The visit underscores the emphasis on fostering economic and diplomatic collaboration within the ECO framework while strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations.
